Freedom of speech? Guess not.

This happened during an address at the University of Floria by Senator John Kerry.

A wake up call to see one of our basic rights not being granted.

this is not a question of freedom of speech. the guy is entitled to speak whatever he wants, but in this case, he is being extremely disruptive to an event which there is considerable time and investment made and from which all the other people in the event are entitled to benefit. being this disruptive and monopolizing the little time there is in the event is selfish and does a disservice to everyone else there whose views and opinions are just as important. i believe the event organizers have the right to ask him to leave. the video does not show this. the cops were definitely way overboard on the force, even if the guy was resisting.

I don't see how his questions were disruptive. Senator Kerry didn't even respond to them before the shool made their decision to have him removed. If you're entitled to ask lets say 2 or 3 questions each, they get addressed and you move on regardless of how ridiculous they are especially at a political event like that. Its absolutely ludacris what they did especially in this day and age where everything gets made an example of on the internet thus stirring the hornets nest.

i believe the video frames the situation incorrectly. if you look on the right side of the video, you'll notice one of the event directors (perhaps the moderator) is standing next to guy making "cut this guy off" gestures and seems to have come to this conclusion shortly before the video begins. this could mean that the guy had been at this tirade for some time prior to the start of this video. the start time of the video is not accidental - it was chosen by whomever is publishing the video.

another observation is that the guy is holding the microphone and moreover, shielding it. typically, a moderator will be taking the questions and will be holding the microphone. this suggests that the gentleman has gotten the microphone through unscrupulous means, for example grabbing it forcefully from the moderator. this would explain the general hostility the room has towards this guy as the video begins.
