dubai waterfront city

dubai, already known for the palm islands project, continues its literal groundbreaking architecture projects. the persian gulf port city is slated to bring the world the Waterfront City.

taking 1.5 billion square feet of bare desert and carving a square border to allow the persian gulf water to create an artificial island, the developers of waterfront city claim this project will be twice the size of hong kong.

on the mainland surrounding the manhattan-like island will be four more urban districts with their own individual character and therefore creating a diverse yet unified city.. much like new york.

...but i still dont know what the hell that star wars looking death star thing in the middle is. 2018 is the projected date of completion. god help us all
